Circuland is a start-up, that was founded in 2022, that is currently producing the Circuland Platform, a tool to enable materials’ re-use in the AEC industry. We envision cities as urban mines and materials as circular resources. Our platform aims to enable the transition towards this vision, offering the following functions:
In Circuland we have approached Materials Passports as digital documents, which certify materials’ identity and properties, entitling them to be re-used. The Circuland Materials Passports provide you with the information and confidence you require to re-use construction materials. They include information about materials’ properties, location, circularity and carbon performance, material health and sourcing etc. The information is documented through the products’ Certificates and Datasheets. Circuland requires the Materials Passports’ verification prior to their publication in the platform.
The Circuland Platform has been designed to efficiently link Materials Passports for New Products, Materials Passports for Buildings, the UK Materials Stock Database and Marketplace for re-used Materials. Prioritising automation, transparency and data robustness, it provides an innovative tool that simplifies the complex problem of materials re-use. Introducing a clear methodology, third party verification and data validation, the platform opens a new way to approach and document construction materials.
