As Software Developer, Robotics Automation with guidance, you will develop software applications that control robotic systems in a manufacturing environment to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with others within the team to design, program, implement, test and debug the software, and maintain documentation, to optimize automation of our systems within the lifecycle of our manufacturing workflow as well as ensure that the software meets design specifications, safety standards and performance requirements.
Education & Qualifications, Required:
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture or related field preferred.
Skills & Experience, Required:
3 to 5 years industry experience within a manufacturing environment.
Solid experience in software development in C# or Python
Working knowledge in object-based programming
Working knowledge with CAD software
Skills & Experience, considered an asset but could be learned on the job:
Working knowledge in ABB RobotStudio and ABB RAPID
Working knowledge with BIM software
Experience with computational architectural design processes
Experience with digital manufacturing processes
The Role & Responsibilities:
Design and develop software systems for controlling robotic systems.
Debug, test and troubleshoot software programs, as necessary.
Optimize software performance to improve robotic system functionality.
Assist with the design, sourcing, and implementation of new robotic systems, as well as the setting up of equipment for operational expansion and R&D purposes.
Implement robotic control code generation.
Write and test code in a variety of programming languages, to ensure performance and quality standards are met.
Integrate new and existing software into new and existing machinery.
Maintain and modify existing applications.
Perform software upgrades and custom programming as assigned.
Perform system testing and troubleshooting to ensure the automation systems operate efficiently and effectively.
Participate in the design and development of automated manufacturing information.
Participate in the development of software processes for design-to-manufacturing workflows.
Collaborate with engineers, operators, and production team to identify automation opportunities and develop solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including software code, system design and operation manuals.
Participate in the install and commissioning process of automation cells.
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in robotics automation.
Important to Mention!
Willingness to work on part week at our head office location in Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC and manufacturing facility in Delta, BC.
Option to work from Home 1 day per week, may be possible.
Flexibility and eligibility to travel on occasion will be required, including to the US
Must provide your own CSA approved 6” safety footwear, required.
Proof of ability to remain and work in Canada.
