This is not your typical Product Management position – Barton Malow and LIFTbuild are seeking a team member with a passion for and experience in computational and/or generative design, software application development, and BIM management with a background in architecture or engineering design disciplines to join our team of innovative professionals.
As a Design Automation Product Manager, you will be responsible for operationalizing the strategic vision for configurable building products oriented to LIFTbuild and other entities within the Barton Malow Family of Companies. You will help set direction and facilitate adoption of design & engineering automation tools, BIM content & standards, prefabrication modeling strategies, as well as evaluate and develop use cases for new technologies.

Principal Responsibilities
Enthusiastically lead the development of configurable building product(s) that leverage design automation techniques to maximize efficiency and constructability while delivering a customer experience that is simpler, faster, and more certain than traditional design delivery. Critical product management responsibilities will include the following:Clearly define all work to be done and document so that it can easily be referenced by all product stakeholders.
Develop a turnover plan (training & support, maintenance, etc.).
Develop a product schedule with completion date and clear milestones for completion. Manage the schedule closely and work with the team to course correct as necessary.
Develop the detailed Testing Plan for the product and ensure the detailed execution of the Testing Plan at the appropriate stage(s) of product development.
Coordinate all work between consultants and internal team members including App Dev, subject matter experts (SMEs), etc.
Schedule and lead regular check-in meetings to ensure alignment, roadblocks are cleared, and clarity of work scope expectations with a constant focus on completion date.
Develop innovative, integrated, and practical product roadmaps and design logic strategies that align with business-oriented goals.
Work with the Business Transformation Team and the Systems Team to ensure the product development environment conforms to internal standards. Additionally, continuously identify areas of improvement for our internal development environment.
Discover valuable problems to solve and validate potential design automation solutions with customers and the market. Identify, deploy, and scale these opportunities to the Barton Malow Family of Companies.
Maximize opportunities for prefabrication and modular design integration as part of forward-thinking design and construction practices.
Software & Process Knowledge
Expert level understanding in the following: Autodesk Revit
Intermediate understanding of the following: Autodesk Dynamo and computational & generative design workflows, Visual Studio, agile framework, and prototyping/wireframing tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
Basic understanding of Navisworks and Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA)
The preferred candidate has…
An undergraduate or graduate degree in architecture or engineering.
10+ years’ experience managing internal and external BIM partners and resources.
Demonstrated design and modeling ability and understanding of model progression and technologies.
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
Experienced in facilitating meetings and training events.
Knowledge of building codes and products, both residential and commercial.
Experience designing for and modeling prefabricated or modular building elements.
