Job Description:

Architects at AUAR work with our wider team of designers, developers and builders to design and deliver our robotically-prefabricated timber houses at our London-based micro-factory. This involves a wide variety of responsibilities, primarily focused on designing our projects but also feeding into the development of our housing products and contributing to our building systems design. We are looking for reliable and proactive candidates with experience in all phases of design and a keen interest for technology, sustainability and timber construction. Experience with timber, modular and prefab is a plus, but not a must.

Responsibilities:

Design of all phases of our garden studios, small homes, houses and housing projects
Product development of our houses and housing typologies
Submitting planning and tender documents
Representational work on materials for external-facing communications
Client-facing communication and coordination
Coordination with our in-house build team, engineers and systems automation team
Research tasks on housing, regulations, materials and construction methods
Feedback to build team, systems automation team and product teams
Weekly reporting to CEO & CTO/Chief Architect
Essential Skills & Experience:

Qualified architect with Part III or equivalent
Right to work in the UK
Strong creative, design and representation skills
Excellent design and detailing skills
Excellent communication skills
Skilled with Rhino, BIM, Adobe CS
Experience in all design phases
Able to work autonomously and within a team environment
Nice to have:

Experience with timber construction, modular of prefab
Experience with digital design or manufacturing
Knowledge of Grasshopper, Dynamo and Autodesk Inventor
Experience with Airtable and other workflow/database management tools
Language requirements:

Fluent in English.
Location:

London or surrounding areas is preferred. We support work from home arrangements, but you will also be expected to regularly work from our base in Bethnal Green, east London. You will need to travel regularly to various locations in the South of England. Many of our projects are in the South West, where AUAR has a second base in Bristol.
