Automated Architecture (AUAR) Ltd is looking for a full-time Micro-factory Manager with an architecture, construction or engineering background to work with us on the setup and running of a new micro-factory in Belgium.

Job Description:
Maker-Builders at AUAR will work with our team of build managers, architects and engineers to manufacture and deliver our prefabricated timber houses at our Aalter-based factory and on sites across Belgium. This involves a wide variety of tasks, from building with our proprietary timber cassette system to running a CNC machine and installing houses on site. AUAR provides technical upskilling in 3D software such as Rhino, CNC-fabrication and the basics of robotics. We are looking for reliable and proactive candidates with experience in making and building and a keen interest in digital fabrication. This role is open to anyone who wishes to work with timber construction and digital fabrication, including applicants with a background in trades, the arts, wood working, making, manufacturing or architecture.
Responsibilities:
Manufacture our proprietary timber cassettes, window frames and other building components assisted by digital fabrication equipment such as CNC machines and industrial robots
Installing finishes, cladding and building envelopes, such as EPDM roof finish
Installing basic electrics
Installing prefabricated building segments on site
Checking design documents with micro-factory manager, architects, surveyors and engineers
Tinkering alongside our architects and engineers, developing solutions for our building systems and contributing to company Research and Development
Assisting our build manager and architects in preparing building documentation, schedules and procurement
Keeping our workshop and factory organised, safe and tidy
Adhering to health and safety requirements in our workshop and on building sites
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in one of the following: trades/construction, wood working, making, manufacturing, industrial design, architecture, set design/building, or engineering
The ability to do physical labour
Ideally you’ll have experience in timber construction, carpentry, and/or digital fabrication, know your way around a workshop, and know how to handle various machines and hand-tools
Degrees are not required, as long as you have proven practical experience with any area of work listed above
A valid driving licence
Nice to have:
If you know how to use 3D software, a CNC machine or other digital fabrication methods, great! If not, we will train you up and help you develop your skills
An interest in timber construction would be great, as that’s our primary building material
Language requirements:
Fluent in Dutch and English.
Location:
Aalter-based. You will need to travel regularly to various locations in Belgium. You will regularly travel to London for meetings and training.
