ADDD’s weekly video is all about construction technology!

What are the top time saving Revit plugins as recommended by experts on YouTube? I watched a whole load of their videos and here is a summary of the top 13 time saving Revit plugins you can try.

ALIGN by BIM 42

The Align tool allows you to align, distribute or organize selected elements, annotations, tags and text along the axis you specify. Furthermore, the Arrange feature will automatically neatly place your tags around the current view.

The Colour Splasher allows you to graphically visualize and verify the information in a model.

It filters, selects and colours elements based on the values of a defined parameter to let you visualise if there are errors or a lack of information.

The user first selects the desired category, then selects a parameter, and finally, sets colours for each value of this parameter.

Tools 4 BIM have loads of revit plugins but one is Cut Opening Free uses Revit’s ‘Interference Check’ results to create holes wherever you need them. You can then edit the openings.

Cut Opening Free is an easy-to-use Revit extension that you can download and start benefiting from right now.

The Dock is an interactive window that allows you to access and manage all AGACAD products on your workstation, making testing and purchasing easier.

The Productivity Suite reduces BIM stress and extends the power of Autodesk Revit. This collection of add-ons includes fast documentation and smart modeling extensions for all Revit users.

BIMTOOLS is a set of free tools which enhances the productivity for views by up to 50%.

The included 3D-PDF Export tool generates a standard PDF documents with embedded 3D graphics.

The 3D-PDF files can be opened by any PDF reader such as Adobe Reader 7.0 or later.

The COINS Auto-Section Box tool gives you speed and agility when managing three-dimensional views to analyse model areas of particular interest.

It allows you to quickly create temporary and permanent views to be used for immediate interrogation of the model or for construction document deliverables.

This works by allowing you to focus on the model instead of managing views or a view’s properties.

Although Autodesk® Revit® has built-in support for creating section boxes from elements, the COINS Auto-Section Box improves on this with the following time-saving features:

Works with elements in linked files.

Special handling of grids, section lines, elevation markers, levels, scope boxes, dimensions, and tags.

Option to create new views.

Toggle the section box on and off to gain a better understanding of the selection within the context of the whole model.

Option to arrange the original selection view and the 3d view side-by-side.

Align section box to walls, members, or other line-based geometry.

dynre* is a free addin containing a selection of simple, user-friendly & efficient Dynamo scripts that can be used by architects and designers who work in Revit and aim to automate many of their design tasks.

This serves as an all-purpose tool for analyzing and removing unplaced views, legends, schedules, imported or linked CAD files, Unplaced Rooms, and Unplaced Spaces.

This tool also holds a new feature: Dimension Analysis, which analyzes all the dimensions present in the project.

This Dimension Analysis will give an overview idea of all the dimensions that will be removed/lost after purging specific CAD files.

Based on this result, the user can make a decision to purge the CAD file.

Get rid of clutter and optimize your Revit project with the Master Purger Tool. Analyze and remove unplaced views, legends, schedules, CAD files, rooms, and spaces. The new Dimension Analysis feature helps you make informed decisions about purging specific CAD files, so you can keep your project clean and efficient.

Alpha BIM plugin helps increase work efficiency for Revit users.

Typical products of Alpha BIM such as Takeoff the Formwork Area from the Revit model;

Automatically build Revit structural model from AutoCAD drawing;

Modeling Rebar for Beam, Column, Walls, Floor,…;

Implementation of shop drawing for Beam, Column, Wall,…;

With the ‘Zoom To Selection’ you can now easily zoom the view to all selected elements.

Zooming to a selected element will aid in the efficiency of coordinating.

Currently, there is no such command/function available for Revit.

However, there is a workaround by ‘Manage–>Inquiry–>Select by ID’.

But this is not a useful workflow, because it requires an additional step to first get the ‘Element IDs of selection’. So zoom to selection is faster

Dependent View is a free plugin to help BIMsters generate dependent views quickly using Scope Boxes!

Blown-up views

And more!

HOLIXA T4R

Contains tools like a job-time tracker, reference list, wall openings, compound structure annotation, room floors, dimensioning tools, left/right door opening schedules, room renumbering, duct renumbering, duct splitting, export schedule to Excel, watermark/sign BIM documents, create anaglyph image from 3D view, change the text to upper, lower or title case and replace by using regular expression and create the legend of selected doors, windows, etc. and their selected parameters; extended filter for element selection, wall-pipe dimensions, export/import of schedules (bidirectional), mass join geometry, door swings in curtain walls, sheet scales, sheet formats, type legend, text alignment, command line, project purging, batch publishing to PDF, importing Autodesk® Civil 3D® terrain and direct access to thousands of RFA families.

The add-in analyzes all layered structures looking for material names and layer widths (thicknesses).

Materials, widths, and material layers with widths can be written into multiline Type parameters of all six-layered categories (Ceilings, Floors, Site-Pads, Roofs, Structural Foundations, and Walls).

These parameters can be used to show tags and schedules.

Tree structure displays all layered structure types, materials, and widths (thicknesses), showing:

Red color shows missing materials (<By Category>)

Core layers are underlined

Structural materials are bold and blue (or red if the material is missing)

Units can be set: millimeters, centimeters, decimeters, meters, decimal inches, and decimal feet

The unit format can be set: number of decimals and trailing zeros

The easiest and fastest way to select elements.

This app allows the user to select any item in just a few clicks.

The app features:

(1) powerful selection tools,

(2) window selection of pre-filtered elements,

(3) select any item by any parameter in seconds,

(4) customize your own settings,

(5) recognizes current selection and lets you work with it,

(6) save any selection and retrieve it from the Revit built-in selection manager,

(7) clean up selections so that grouped or blocked elements are cleared (useful for massive parameter changes in elements),

(8) select elements that Revit wouldn’t allow such as area boundaries, room boundaries, lines, links, model and detail groups, revision clouds, pads.
